Congress approves new funding for global poverty programs!

It looks like the US will raise spending on poverty reduction by $2.4 billion in 2008.

Last night, the US House of Representatives voted to pass the Senate's version of the omnibus spending bill for fiscal year 2008. The legislation includes a historic increase in funding for global poverty programs - money that will literally save thousands of lives. The ONE campaign and its partners have been lobbying for this kind of legislation for years. Now another work begins... making sure the funds go to the people who need it the most.

About Thirst for Change

  • We're a couple of guys who work for Living Water International, a Christian organization that helps impoverished communities in the developing world acquire safe, clean water (video).

Because of the work we do, we get glimpses into lives and communities far from our own, which have changed the way we think about life and faith, and are transforming the way we see our place in the world. How can we love God and people authentically, both on our own streets and across the globe?

We don't have all the answers—in fact, we're just beginning to get a handle on the questions—but we want to invite you along on the journey.
